Ok, hi! I'm Eevie and as many of you likely know I make cosplays! Right now I am in the middle of making a whoooole bunch of neat stuff. Including a costume of a certain beloved, grumpity, and eccentric merman. I do a lot of research into my costumes before making them. What fabric would suit the person's occupation? What will look the most realistic in this situation? What does that weird symbol on their gear mean (in world or irl)? Is this something I (or whoever I am making the costume for) can tolerate wearing for a long period of time? And in this case I have been doing research on barnacles. This has lead me to be very concerned about the barnacles upon Ogenus's body. Please understand I am NOT trying to body-shame or say his hygiene is bad! Angler fish lay in wait hardly moving so him being sedentary at times makes a lot of sense. I am just very concerned as to if those are living barnacles. If they're dead ones he stuck on for camouflage then that's awesome. Do they function as armor against the rocks? Or maybe they're the type that stick to hard surfaces and his scales are simply extra tough? But if they're the type that live on whales then I am concerned as they could be rather painful. This brings up so many questions about merpeople physiology as well! Is Dione's skin more like a harp seal or like a human? Is it different depending on the part of her body, such as on her hands versus on her tail. Does Ogenus have more of his body covered in scales than say Tethys or Shay? But back to barnacles! [@Ogenus] do the barnacles on your body cause any detrimental effects? Did you stick them on yourself?? How did you even get barnacles so deep down in the ocean they normally grow in shallow waters??? I need to know!!
[@Amarayne] OMG that's hilarious! I remember coming back during that even and being like: Wait. Where's Miranda?
